A Triple Duty Check Valve TOV is installed at the outlet of a pump and prevents fluid from flowing backward even during sudden pump stoppages. Its backflow check function protects the pump from water hammer damage by blocking reverse surge into the pipe. Flow rate can be adjusted manually using the indicator and handle, and it's also possible to relieve vacuum inside the pump by opening the built-in bypass valve to induce flow.
